Proper stroker care and maintenance is paramount to the safety and longevity of your device. You wouldn’t want to stick your pecker into a bacterium infested, moldy Cooter. A stroker is no different. You should always clean your Stroker before and after use, use proper lubrication, and make repairs with proper materials.  The following instructions apply to Alien Love Co Products and can be used on any stroker made of silicone. Â
Cleaning
Cleaning is the most important part of stroker care and maintenance. As mentioned, you should always clean and dry your device before and after each use. Use a mild anti-bacterial soap on all external and internal surfaces. Liquid hand soaps that don’t have a ton of perfumes or dyes in them are recommended. Foaming soaps work really well. Use a soft bristle brush or your fingers to clean the internals.  Do NOT use your penis as this won’t get your stroker clean and can force soap into your urethra. Once you’ve applied soap and given your device a good scrub, rinse it in hot water.Â
Once your stroker is cleaned and rinsed, give it a good shake to get as much water out and off of it as you can. Then pat it dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. To dry the internals, you can use a hair dryer, compressed air, or place it on a drying rack. Once its dry, it is recommended that you sore your stroker individually in a zip lock bag. Since silicone tends to have a tackiness to it, it can collect dust and dirt if you store it in the open.
What To Do if Your Stroker Starts to Smell
Personally, if my stroker started to smell I would throw it out and get a new one. This of course is what’s recommended, however there are things you can try prior to shelling out more money on a new one. Silicone can survive very high temps, so boiling it is an option. Place a pan of water on the stove, and boil your stroker for about 20 mins. Once it cools, wash it with soap and water and let it dry. Then check to see if the smell is gone. Baking soda is a really good cleaner and can be used to clean silicone products as well. This can sometimes help with stinky devices and won’t hurt the silicone.
What to do if your stroker feels excessively sticky
Most silicone strokers will feel slightly sticky, this is a natural condition. However, if yours become excessively sticky it can start to collect and harbor dust and bacteria. If you notice your device starting to feel sticky (like one of those sticky hand toys you played with as a kid) you can fix it with baking soda and water. Take a generous amount of baking soda and mix it with a small amount of warm water. You want it to be the consistency of paste. Apply this mixture generously to your stroker and allow it to air dry overnight. Once dry, wash it in warm water with mild soap.
Lubrication
Using the right lubricants can prevent damage to your stroker. Water based lubes made for sex toys are recommended, however there are alternatives. Most water based adult lubricants can be used without causing harm to silicone. Keeping in mind that chemicals can damage silicone, some hand lotions can be used but should always be tested first. Several lubricants have been tested on Alien Love Co products and reviews can be found by clicking HERE. Never use any petroleum-based lubricants on your stroker. One, it might damage the silicone, and two its an absolute nightmare to clean.
Maintaining Your Stroker
Now we get to the maintenance portion of stroker care and maintenance. Should your stroker tear, you can repair it rather than throw it out. Sil-poxy by Smooth-On is a specially formulated product designed for silicone. It is what we recommended for Alien Love Co products. Sil-poxy dries flexible, so your stroker will be good as new. It will, however, stick to other things, such as fabrics and other plastics so caution must be taken when repairing your device. Make sure the area to be repaired is clean and dry and follow the instructions that come with the adhesive.
